There are many negative trends in Evangelical Christianity that are of legitimate concern to true followers of Christ. Pushing the envelope of the negative slide is the Emergent Church that eschews some of the civility that past Christians have tried to maintain as an example to the non-believing world.
Some of the more radical components of the Emergent camp have been known to use profanity from the pulpit. And as disgusting as that is, I was much more disgusted to read the title of the book pictured here.

May God have mercy on Western Evangelicals, and may he grant us repentance. We are in great need of mercy and repentance. And a good whooping would be in order as well.
I admire the amount of grace you showed in writing this. So common it is in observance of the Emergent Church for Christians to respond with stark hostility - and not reverent prayer for mercy

ReplyDeleteWe're all in this together. And the Emergent believers are my brothers in Christ (and sisters). I am troubled by some of what the Emergents are doing and I am well aware that they are troubled by much of the "modernist" Church. I look at it as part of the iron sharpening iron process. Sometimes its uncomfortable to be together as we become sharpened by our brothers.
