t’s Monday, and we’re all in need of some great music to kick off the work week. So, with that in mind, I present my favorite choir: Perpetuum Jazzile:

It's Friday... and time for music

fter a long and very busy week, during which I posted nothing at all, it’s finally Friday! And now it’s time to kick back and relax with some amazingly awesome music.

I present to you... Michael Hedges:

The only difference [between sports and music] is that [sports has] competition built in. That can cause disunity between athletes and their fans. Just as in politics, it can pit one person against another, based solely on which team each supports. Although a great athlete can cause a person to rise above this disunity, there is no built-in negative quality like that in Music.

Every time this choir puts out a new video it blows me away! And this one is mind-blowingly awesome again. I would so love to be part of this choir—even if that means I have to move to Slovenia!

ast night my son asked me, “Dad, why are girls so hard to understand?” To which I answered helpfully, “get used to it.” But this morning a friend told me about this great device that may help my son in his quest for understanding of the feminine species (I’d say the feminine sex or try to be current, albeit grammatically incorrect by saying the feminine gender - but when it comes to language, we are clearly different species). So, I pass along the advice to all my brothers out there who need help deciphering what a woman says:

Ah... choir music!

Could there be anything better than a phenomenal choir doing what they do best? As much as I love other forms of music, this gets my heart pumping and makes me want to shout with joy!

Orianthi Panagar at Crossroads Guitar Festival

I just recently learned about this incredible guitarist. Orianthi is a young Australian female guitarist who blows away almost every guitarist out there—no matter what genre. Carlos Santana was recently asked who would be his replacement now that he’s heading into old age. He said that he can’t imagine a better replacement than Orianthi. She’s every bit as good a guitarist as Carlos, even though she’s barely out of her teens. And she’s quite a bit easier on the eyes than Carlos too. ...Well, maybe that doesn’t matter so much in the world of guitar playing. But it’s a nice bonus.

And here’s a bonus, but this time with another one of my favorite guitarists—Steve Vai:

This is one of the first songs I played in the first band I was in. Joe Walsh is a nut case and seems to have no brain cells left, but he sure can play the guitar. I’m not sure what that says about guitarists, but...

Larry Carlton - Josie

Larry Carlton is one of my all-time favorite guitarists. I loved him as the lead guitarist for Steely Dan and then closely followed his solo career after Steely Dan. I was especially pleased when I noticed more and more Christian songs on his albums. It’s great to have a Christian guitarist out there demonstrating solid musicianship.
