To be a Democrat

I got this in an email sometime ago. I'm sorry I can't give proper credit to the author, as it wasn't included in the email. These statements are pretty on the mark, don't you think??

To be a Democrat:

You have to believe that a woman found raped and murdered is morally superior to a woman explaining to the police how her attacker got that fatal bullet wound.

You have to believe that the Second Amendment only applies to flintlocks, just as the First Amendment only applies to quills and lead type.

You have to believe that the Regan tax cuts of -1.4% an unmitigated disaster, but the Kennedy tax cuts of -1.9% to "increase the financial incentives for personal effort, investment and risk taking" were benevolent and beneficial.

You have to believe that failing inner city schools are the fault of racist government policies, but that allowing poor parents to send their children to private schools with school vouchers is a bad idea.

You have to believe the AIDS virus is spread by a lack of funding.

You have to believe that businesses create oppression and governments create prosperity.

You have to believe there was no art before federal funding.

You have to believe the military, not politicians, start wars.

You have to believe the NRA is bad, because they stand up for certain parts of the Constitution, while the ACLU is good, because they stand up for certain parts of the Constitution.

You have to believe that standardized tests are racist, but racial quotas aren't.

You have to believe conservatives are racists, because they oppose some government assistance but that minorities are unable to succeed without government assistance.

You have to believe that trees have feelings, animals can conceptualize and a fetus is nothing but a blob of protoplasm.

You have to believe that no culture is morally superior to any other, but that the 59,834,866 people who voted for George Bush are toothless, inbred, racists too stupid to vote for John Kerry.

You have to believe that our involvement in the middle east is due to the immoral influence of big oil companies while driving a Jeep Cherokee that gets 16 miles per gallon (city).

You have to believe that I'm nothing but a "right wing shill".
