Blog Header - January 1, 2008

Yesterday we went to Panera Bread to get some coffee and read by their fireplace. We arrived at about 3:30, ordered our drinks, sat down by the fireplace and then soon noticed that they were locking the doors and cleaning up. We remembered that it was New Year's Eve and they quite likely wanted to get out of there to head to their various celebrations.

Of course, I had my camera with me and took a few photos while I enjoyed my café latte. I just thought this couple looked great while they worked together on their laptop and enjoyed their Panera Bread coffee, which, by the way, is some of the best coffee I have ever had.

Happy New Year!

  1. Excellent photo. Looks like advertising for an insurance company or retirement planning. Happy New Year!

  2. Thanks. I'd actually love to do some advertising photography for Panera Bread and have them pay me in espresso.

Happy New Year to you (and yours) too.

  3. Rich, no wonder you are in the position you are at work. Can you use this photo for PR at work? It's so cool looking. Have you ever posted your photos to sell? And, how much memory do you have on your computer to store all the work you do??

  4. Hi Many Questions, nice to meet you. My name is Answers With Vagueness.

I wouldn't be able to use this particular photo at work because I don't have a signed release from the people in the photo. But I do use photos like this at work from time to time.

I have not ever tried to sell my photos online. Outside of my job, any photography that I've been paid for is event photography and family portraiture. I was asked to do some fine art photography for our church, but that would not be a paid job. I have not yet done that work, which will be nature pics.

I have a 180 gig hard drive on my work laptop. It is almost full all the time. I regularly pull the photos off of my computer and put them on DVDs for storage. It's bad enough that I have so many photos on my computer, but then when I work in Photoshop I add huge files for each photo I work on. I'm trying to get my work to purchase an external hard drive for all my work photos.

I really like this one too. The mix of colors is great and I really like the interaction between the couple.
