The silver lining in the cloud of dirty dishes

Thank God for Dirty Dishes,
They have a tale to tell.
While others are going hungry,
We're eating very well.

With home and health and happiness,
I shouldn't want to fuss.
For by this stack of evidence,
God's very good to us.”

  1. What memories this poem brings back! It was displayed on a wooden plaque above my kitchen sink for years, and every time we relocated, it was one of the first decorations in place. If I remember correctly, it came to us as part of a wedding shower gift of kitchen cleaning gadgets. Since we currently live in a concrete-block basement, I have no way to display it, but I'm thinking it might be a good idea to print it, laminate it, and hang it up with masking tape!
    Thanks, Rich.

  2. My mom had a trivet with this saying on it. With six people in the family, with most of them being home for three meals, we often have to run the dishwasher twice. And on busy days, it may not get run even once, so you can imagine what my kitchen looks like a great deal of the time.

I have a funny wood cut out that a friend gave me that sits on my windowsill above my sink -- "housework makes you ugly". Now ya'll know why I'm so beautiful!
