David loves trains! In fact, he loves anything with wheels. When he was a tiny baby, he would lean over the side of his carriage in order to get a good view of the carriage wheels as they turned. He loves cars, trucks, trains, skateboards, wagons, wheel chairs.
In this blog header photo, David is watching a train go by. This railroad crossing is at the bottom of the road leading down from Liberty University to the main drag through the shopping district of Lynchburg. David could spend all day sitting by the side of a railroad track just watching the trains go by.
He'll give you the full scoop on his blog: Train Collector
I like trains too but these particular tracks are not my favorite. I stayed on campus a couple of years ago in the girls' dorm which backs up to these tracks. Trains go by at all hours of the night and blow the whistle. LOL I decided that, between the dorm bunks and the train whistle all night, I was too old to stay on campus and from then on stayed either at the Extended Stay America or Sleep Inn whenever my husband was unable to come and bring our RV. Much quieter and more comfortable. LOL
ReplyDeleteHave you taken David to ride the Smokey Mountain RR in Bryson City, NC? What a wonderful trip!!!
I imagine that these would bother the people in those dorms just up the hill. They're also really troublesome when you're trying to get to Wal-mart from LU and a train decides to stop on the track for no apparent reason. I haven't quite figured that one out yet, but it has happened to us quite a few times. We no longer use this road if we can help it.
ReplyDeleteWe have downloaded some visitor's guides for that Smokey Mountain train ride and David has a DVD of the trip (and two others in other areas of the country). Hopefully we'll be able to do that sometime in the future. Thanks for the tip.
